In Gnaty-Pietkowo and/or Gnaty-Thopicewo the resident family of the name Gnatowski exerted a court hearing, which should prove their noble descent in the year 1550. Owing to the taught witnesses the proof succeeded to them. In addition with this negotiation it was stated that the ancestors according to vernacular from the place Pobezanie, a place at the direct border between Mazovia and Saxony. In a later chapter this place will play a substantial role with the transition of the family Gnatowski of Mazovia to Saxony, connected with the following settlement in Ermland.

 

 

In addition, the Latin text lists a set of family branches and sets up the reference to the Mazovian main line (Łada). Here is the translation:[1]

 

 

"334. Drohiczyn, land year, 15 Septemebr 1550

Came personally before court and to the model of the acts in the zone Drohiczyn, that noble Valentin, Franz, the blessed Nikolaus, Johannes, the blessed Johannes Calixtus, Sebastian and Mathias, the blessed sons of Stanislaus, who to represent inheriting of Gnathy Thopicevo in the district Bielstein, around, that its nobleman would be true and legitimate birth. They induced six noblemen, who explained, that the origin of its nobility of the noblemen would stem great-grandfathers, grandfathers and fathers. And first they brought along nobleman in accordance with the direction of the law two, Bartholomeus, the blessed Peter, Paul, the blessed Nikolaus son, the inheriting of Ussa in the district Drohiczyn.

 

 

These demonstrated witnesses stood personally before court and admitted publicly that the noble Valentin, Franz, Johannes Calixtus, Sebastian and Mathias, which are inheriting Gnathy Thopicevo, true noble ones, and that they are descended cousins from the grandfather Racibor Usseniski, and that they were called on the paternal side in the vernacular Pobozanie.

 

 

Secondly they set up two of the family of the mother other nobleman, Mathias and Johannes, the inheriting of the smaller Ussa. The two noble ones insured solemnly that the noble Valentin, Franz, Johannes Calixtus, Sebastian and Mathias is noble Gnathowsky, because of its ancestor Margarethe of Strakovo, born in the district Nurensis, which descended grandmother of those, Catharina Garnianka from Philipi, and that their mother was noble, which are called in the vernacular Polkozy.

 

 

Then led here thirdly two noble ones, Stanislaus, the blessed Jakob and Stanislaus, sons of Leonardus, which inheriting Gnathy in district Drohiczyn, which personally before court stood and so certification put down that noble Valentin, Franz, Johannes Calixtus, Sebastian and Mathias, blessed sons of Stanislaus, inheriting Gnathy Thopicevo, real noble Gnathowsky[2] are, since by their noble ancestors the grandmother of the father, who descended blessed Dorothea Gnathowska, and that they are the brothers of those from the gem, whom Lady is named.

 

 
Certainly the above-mentioned induced witnesses really swore to the acknowledgment of those and the true certification before the picture of the cross. And the court concluded after interrogation of the induced above-mentioned nobleman of witness and after hearing of the witnesses proof, the above-mentioned noble Valentin, Franz, the blessed Nikolaus, Johannes, the blessed sons of Stanislaus to make to inheriting of Gnathy Piethkovo (sic!) and to consider it to be true nobleman, who are supposed to be estimated and looked at everywhere as an actual nobleman."
